About this video

The consultant’s ‘S-curve’ can be used as a structure to understand personal disruption, says Whitney Johnson.

Johnson, author of Disrupt Yourself, says the speed of disruption has not only increased for businesses, but for individuals as well. She says we all need to learn how to handle the S curves of our careers.

Her message: We need to learn to jump to a new challenge that makes use of our strengths and talents, and to do so before plateauing on the old one. Plateauing can mean staying in a job or a field so long that you become less relevant and stagnant professionally and personally. When that happens, you could sabotage yourself or stay too long in an industry hit hard by disruption.
