Cartoonist Liza Donnelly aims for the “affectionate poke” more than the straight joke. Her feminist cartoons are “scenes of men and women talking, on the ground floor, where we get at problems.”
But as she does more “live-drawing” cartoons that she shares immediately on the internet, she finds herself in a venue that calls for something extra. “Drawing on the Internet more and more, I feel the need to speak out more forcefully,” she says. “Not just slice of life issues, but violence against women across the world.”
