“Business people are more creative than they think they are,” says songwriter Darden Smith. “My skills as a songwriter and in making it as an artist are very applicable to how business functions. It’s the same process, different tools.”

The audience feels an artist’s authenticity and self-awareness, which is another crucial intersection between business and art, according to Smith: “When companies and business people know who they are, they’re more successful, because they’re not pretending. The one thing you can’t fake is truth. If you try, it just falls flat.”
