Christine Flanagan

We all know a good idea when we see one. The printing press, the pencil, the flush toilet, the battery, and Google are all great ideas but where did they come from? What kinds of environments created these magical wonders? Were they flashes of brilliance? Inspiration? Or years in the making?

Join us on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 when best-selling author Steven Johnson will be at our BIF studio in Providence, RI to share highlights from his latest book Where Good Ideas Come From. Building on his acclaimed, bestselling narratives of hisotircal innovation like The Ghost Map and The Invention of Air, Johnson will share his research on how innovation can accelerate under certain circumstances and how physical environments can affect and enhance great ideas, bringing people and ideas together.

Space is limited. Don't delay! Register here.

In the future why don't you offer talks like this as a webinar option? I live in NY State, too far to travel to attend but I would pay to hear Steven's talk via a webinar. The NY Academy of Science broadcasts there talks this way. Kind of in keeping with Steven's point about the power of connectivity.

Hi Stephen - We're suckers for live events but in keeping with the spirit of our non-profit collaborative platform, this talk will posted to our website after the event so you'll be able to check him out then. Cheers, Chris
