BIF Bookgroup Selection Is In: We're Reading Rework
Here's a bit of business advice you don't hear too often: do less than your competition, spend less money, hire fewer people, work fewer hours and offer fewer features. So say Jason Fried and David Heinemeier-Hansson, merchants of simplicity. Fried and Heinemeier-Hansson, co-founders of popular web software company 37signals, have written a new book called Rework which outlines their rather unconventional thinking about how to build a successful business.
37signals has created a string of well-received applications including Basecamp, an online project management system, Backpack, a personal information manager, and Campfire, a group-chat and collaboration tool. Their popular open source framework, Ruby on Rails, has more than 100,000 developers worldwide. The duo's guiding philosophy: stay small and keep it simple.
As we dig into this little gem of a book, I'd like to introduce you all to Jason Pamental who will be guiding and moderating this month's discussion. (Thank you Jason!) Happy reading everyone. Looking forward to another great round of conversation. And Jason Fried will be joining us later in the month for a podcast interview. So keep those questions coming!
