First Group of Storytellers Added to BIF-5 Line-up
BIF welcomes the first group of storytellers to join the BIF-5 Lineup! Registrations for BIF-5 are already pouring in and folks are taking advantage of the early registration rate. Now’s a good time to secure your seat—there are less than 300 tickets left for the October 7-8 event, held this year in Providence at Trinity Rep. Bruce Nussbaum and Bill Taylor will reprise their roles as co-hosts and take the stage alongside storytellers from across the country who created environments and opportunities where transformative innovation emerged.
The list of storytellers will continue to grow over the next few weeks. We're so pleased to welcome to the lineup:
- Bill Buxton, Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research who has a 30-year involvement in research, design and commentary around human aspects of technology, and author of Sketching User Experiences: Getting the Design Right and the Right Design
- Jonah Lehrer editor-at-large for Seed magazine, contributing editor at Radio Lab and Scientific American Mind, and a Rhodes scholar who has worked in the lab of Nobel Prize–winning neuroscientist Eric Kandel and as a cook in restaurants like Melisse, Le Cirque, and Le Bernardin.
- Ethan Zuckerman, co-founder of Global Voices, an international citizen media network that offers training in podcasting and videocasting throughout the developing world and founder of Geekcorps, a non-profit technology volunteer corps that pairs volunteers from high tech companies with businesses in emerging nations,
- John Maeda, a world-renowned artist, graphic designer, computer scientist and educator whose career reflects his philosophy of humanizing technology and now president of the Rhode Island School of Design
- Michael Samuelson, a mountain climber, breast cancer survivor and President and CEO of The Health and Wellness Institute is a pioneer in advancing workplace wellness as a way to control healthcare costs, and
