Thanks Mashable! 7 Most Inspiring Videos on the Web Include Two from BIF Innovation Story Studio

Melissa Withers

Mashable's Josh Catone shared a few good tips this week, directing inspiration-seekers to videos on the web that will reinvigorateyour day.  Among his top seven choices were two vids from the BIF Innovation Story Studio (Lewis Gordon Pugh and Cat Laine).

Cat's story is really powerful. She is the Deputy Director at the Appropriate Infrastructure Development Group, where she and her colleagues work to empower communities in developing nations to change from within. Lainé believes in using human capital already within local economies to solve problems and develop solutions that work locally. She gave this talk at the BIF-4 Collaborative Innovation Summit in October 2008.  I was lucky to get to know Cat, and she is the real deal.  It was great to see her recently when she was back in town for the BIF-5 Summit in October 2009.

Lewis Gordon Pugh is equally as inspiring.  Lewis has swum in every ocean in the world, and was the first person to swim at the North Pole, where the waters are below zero degrees centigrade (which is the freezing point for fresh water). Pugh uses his athleticism and extreme commitment to shed light on important environmental issues.  Seriously.  Watch this video.

Both videos are included in the BIF Innovation Story Studio (ISS).  Since it’s launch in 2006, the studio has created more than 170 high-quality videos and podcasts stories featuring innovators from across industries and disciplines. Content is optimized for viewing both on-screen and on the go via handheld devices like the iPhone. Included in the ISS library are powerful stories from innovators such as Harvard Business School’s Clay Christensen, Microsoft’s Bill Buxton, Dallas Maverick’s Owner Mark Cuban, fashion icon Mark Ecko, GE Healthcare’s Bob Schwartz, Architect David Rockwell, 37 Signals Jason Fried, Zappos.com’s Tony Hsieh, Acumen Fund Founder Jacqueline Novogratz, ZipCar Founder Robin Chase, Seventh Generation Founder Jeffrey Hollender, Nestle VP of Innovation Helmut Traitler, Titanic discover and oceanographer Bob Ballad, visionary thinker Don Tapscott, RISD President John Maeda, design and business guru Roger Martin, technologist Walt Mossberg, MOMA senior curator Paola Antonelli, among many others.

See it all here.
