Michael Lye
For the past ten years, Michael Lye has been teaching at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and is currently Assistant Professor in the Industrial Design department. He has extensive experience teaching interdisciplinary sponsored studios, working with corporate and other sponsors inside and outside the academic setting. He has worked with: Maytag Appliances, Sikorsky Aircraft, Kryptonite, Intel, Massachusetts General Hospital and NASA; and was designer and project manager for the Universal Kitchen Project, an award winning re-examination of the kitchen environment based at RISD. Michael brings his interest and experience in human-centered design, user research and design for healthcare to lead Experience Research for the Nursing Home of the Future program, in order to indentify and define new directions and opportunities for the future of long-term care in the US.
