We live in a consumer economy
Rhode Island, like the rest of the U.S., is a consumer-driven economy. But the meaning of what it means to be a consumer is changing rapidly, as the internet brings real-time information and connects consumers to each other, and as consumers make choices about their lifestyle based on their values, beliefs, and individual styles. In the BIF Consumer Experience Lab, national corporations and individual entrepreneurs will use Rhode Island’s "living lab" to test new relationships and value exchanges with consumers, and introduce products and services through unique business models. Some of these will fail safely, and others will succeed and become the "what's next" models for the nation.
