BIF Welcomes New Experience Designers Daisy Hook and Karen Jorge
We are delighted to announce that Daisy Hook and Karen Jorge have joined the BIF team of Experience Designers!
With a background in anthropology and ethnographic research, Karen enjoys tackling problems with a human-centered approach to gain insight into how people experience and think about their daily lives. Her ethnographic work in the United States and abroad has brought her to hospitals, summer camps, digital communities, correctional facilities, social service organizations, senior living facilities, and to where she is happiest — talking with people in their homes.
Before joining BIF, Karen worked as a consultant for a hospital performance improvement organization, where she helped hospitals strategize to address financial and clinical performance issues.
Outside of BIF, Karen enjoys making music and jewelry, tracking down innovative dance performances, trying as much of Providence’s food scene as she can, and getting people plugged into and excited about the city. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Dartmouth College and an M.A. in Anthropology from Brown University.
Daisy recently received a B.F.A in Interior Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, where she focused on designing spaces beneficial to their inhabitants. While at RISD she also served as Director of the school’s Expose art gallery, where she designed and curated several exhibitions. She has studied and worked in both France and Germany, where she grew up, and exhibited her own art in Paris and in the U.S.
Says Daisy, “I look forward to working on projects that impact peoples’ lives in a beneficial way, especially people living in settings where they don’t choose to be, like healthcare settings such as nursing homes or hospitals.”
In her spare time Daisy thoroughly enjoys trying out new recipes for dinner parties. She is also easily found over a ceramics wheel or out exploring in the woods or by the water, where she feels most at home.
"I’m thrilled that Daisy and Karen have joined us," says Saul Kaplan, Chief Catalyst at the Business Innovation Factory. "We are building a very powerful team at BIF, and the time has never been better to unleash the power of smart, creative people focused on solving our most intractable, systemic problems in healthcare, education, and government."
