Welcome to Lumina Foundation, the Newest BIF Member!
We're happy to announce that Lumina Foundation has become the newest BIF member, which builds on the relationship we have established collaborating to bring the voice and experience of the student to the center of the higher education innovation conversation. Lumina is the nation's largest private foundation devoted solely to increasing Americans' success in higher education.
"One of our goals is to create a new student-centered, learning-based system of higher education," said Lumina President & CEO Jamie Merisotis. "We won't get to Goal 2025* without significant business model innovation and a redesigned higher education system for America and its students."
At the end of April, the Lumina Foundation, along with a number of other organizations, launched a national social network called MoveED for Goal 2025, meant to be a platform through which thousands of partners can work toward making higher education attainment America’s cause — especially for students who have traditionally found it difficult or impossible to continue their education beyond high school: low-income students, students of color, first-generation students, and adult learners.
At the outset, MoveED is a digital platform that uses data visualization to map and network all of the organizations working to achieve Goal 2025, which is the drive to increase the proportion of Americans with high-quality degrees, certificates, and other credentials to 60 percent by the year 2025.
We're thrilled Lumina Foundation has joined BIF, and we look forward to sharing ideas with them at the BIF Summit and working with them on Student Experience Lab projects as well.
