Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, Nestlé, Join BIF Community
Who says things slow down in summer? We're pleased to welcome two international innovation superstars to the BIF Community: pharmaceutical research giant Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research and global food and nutrition leader Nestlé. Both organizations recently joined the BIF member community.
Nestlé and BIF have shared a connection since last fall when Helmut Traiter, then the VP for Innovation at Nestle, participated in the BIF-5 Summit. Innovation is not an option for Nestlé , it’s a necessity. Nestlé’s growth targets hinge on the company’s ability to create an additional $5 billion in growth each year. The immensity of this figure speaks for itself because a significant part of this growth must be generated through innovation. This explains why even during the recent economical crisis, Nestlé continues to spend more than $2 billion annually on R&D.
BIF and Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research have been discussing ideas for collaboration since first being introduced in 2009. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and with locations worldwide, NIBR is committed to discovering innovative medicines that treat disease and improve the lives of patients. BIF is excited to work with this dynamic life sciences and drug discovery organization. Beginning this summer, BIF began working with the NIBR team on an exciting project that supports NIBR's internal innovation effort.
BIF is excited to have both of these terrific organizations in our network.
